Narcissus

The Narcissus are blooming. Little gold faced saints gazing at their own reflections. They are cruel to their lovers who pine away unto Echoes on the wind. Most beautiful things are a little sad really.

    Skye,

My, that flower is lovely. <3
Love the caption. It’s quite pretty.

Also, your nails look amazing! Did you french tip them or are they natural? And does one let their nails grow so long? : )

    • Skylark says:

I have naturally very hard nails that grow fast. I do actually try and keep them cut because they’re a danger to me, I’m forever scratching myself accidentally.

Daffodils are beautiful, I only wish they lasted a little longer. I wonder if I put them in front of a mirror, they might?

  2. I absolutely love your posts about seasonal things, because it reminds me of those hemisphere differences. Here in the northern hemisphere, we had daffodowndillies (my name for them since I was a little tyke) six months ago. They are one of my favorite flowers, and it is wonderful to think of them popping up their lovely heads in another part of the world, when the ones here have almost all gone to sleep for the soon-to-arrive fall and winter. Very sweet! :)

Is that a houndstooth skirt? Such a wonderful fabric!!

I love your posts about the seasons, because it means that when fall is just starting here, I get to enjoy your spring blossoms.^_^

I think that is what make them so beautiful

‘Most beautiful things are a little sad really.’

Why do you think this is?

  6. Vera says:

Sad things are beautiful because they squeeze your heart. When I was small I didn’t understand why my mother thought love tragedies were “beautiful”, but now I do. Beauty is tied to emotions, and while pretty things make you happy, beautiful things make hearts heavy and…feel.

Lovely picture, and lovely caption, as always.

    • Skylark says:

Yes, this is so, but sometimes I think sad things are more beautiful than happy ones, perhaps because you appreciate the beauty more.

  7. I love daffodils. They are such a sunny, happy looking flower aren’t they?
When I traveled to Ireland with my prince, there were fields of them. I went picking a bouquette of daffy’s and was unpleasantly surprised by my first encounter with nettles. Apparently they often grow next to daffy’s.

I am up in the northern hemisphere, too, so fall is around the corner … but if I squint I can see daffodill-yellow in the autumn oak tree leaves …

  11. Raelynn says:

Ah, you have such beautiful flowers in your area. Mine seems to be an ocean of concrete, so your photos are a well needed reminder that plants do grow in some places.
    :)

I’ll tell you a secret, I bought this one from a flower shop. There are daffodils blooming in my neighbour’s garden though, and sweet violets, I’m quite jealous.

I also think it works the other way round, sad things can be beautiful..
