Today was a dream of blue skies and pages and tiny sweet strawberries. It seemed to hurry along like good days do, but I found some of the blessed slowness that I have been looking for in there somewhere. Morning was a walk to the library for Cassandra (which I’ve been needing to read lately) and to Jean Claude for goats cheese pastry. A book on mermaids found me, which I plan to read in the bath.
The markets were their usual rainbow glory and I nearly bought daffodils but had to remind myself not to (I bought turkish delight instead.) Milky and I spread one of my baby blankets out on the lawn for a mid afternoon picnic. The turtledoves were flirting and leaves kept falling in my tea.

Those gingerbread men are the cutest things!
I am very jealous of your fine weather. Over here, it’s supposed to be mid-summer, but it’s only storming and dripping.
Today was the first sunshine in so long. I spent nearly all of it outside until the shadows grew too long. I hope summer catches up with you soon.
The Gingerbread babies are a gift from friends.
that sounds like a fantastic day! i need to take a trip to the library and have a little picnic like that soon.
You really must, it’s the best way to take advantage of fine weather, I think ♥
Great photos! And you’re so lucky to have such nice weather. It’s topping a miserable 102F here on average, not even my tomato plants like this much sun.
I simply must ask, what are those delicious looking pink cubes?
Rose flavoured turkish delight.
Oh those sound wonderful. I’ll have to try some sometime. :)
Oh, how delightful!
My love and I have been wanting to go on a picnic for days now, but all the weather has to offer is gray skies, wind and rain.
I am going to the store today, and I am definitely buying some turkish delights.
Have a nice day, dear!
x
Oh dear, I hope you have some picnic-weather on the way! x
Awh, Milky! It’s been such a long time since she’s starred in any of your blogs! I’ve missed her ever so much!
Turkish delight is so photogenic, and so are the gingerbread children.
xx Rosebud
ps. lovely, lovely blanket
Milky comes with me on adventures quite often. Thank you, I like the blanket too.
I’ve always wanted to try Turkish Delight. It looks like it’d be delicious. What flavour did you get? Is it gooey or chewy? Perhaps like a jelly bean?
I’ve wanted to try Turkish Delight, too. We don’t really have it readily in the states. My friends who tried it said it was disgusting but I love rose-flavored things. What’s your take, Skye?
As I said below to Claudia, its very soft and sweet. Good turkish delight melts in your mouth, but I can understand how people might not like it.
This flavour is Rose, which is traditional but I like orange too. Its hard to describe, its very soft and gelatinous. Also quite sweet, I usually only eat one piece at a time.
So lovely! I love gentle days like those. I used to gather up my dolls and lay out on a blanket under the sun and take naps on pretty days like those. It’s so relaxing.
And lovely, soft dreamy pictures. It really takes me back to those days…
Also, just wanted to let you know that you inspired me to make my own blog: http://www.PrettyWonderland.com
The whole scene is quite lovely! I love the light you used.
I’ve always wanted to try Turkish Delight, I hope I can find it!
Try farmers markets and middle eastern grocery stores, they usually make the best turkish delight.
So sweet <3
I love relaxed, pleasant days like that! It’s really nice just to take a day out and enjoy life’s sweet little pleasures.
Also, I really like that outfit! You always seem to have lovely feminine clothes.
xx
The weather itself is a treat, I always try to enjoy the day outside when it isn’t raining.
Skye,
Pardon me for the off-topic remark, but your braids caught my eye rather quickly– Did you make them yourself? If so, if there a trick you know that I don’t for making them yourself? : )
And, oh, that picnic sounds absolutley lovely. I must invite my friend Katie on one sometime. The Turkish Delight sounds really good, and I must try to get some. Good candies are so hard to find here in the United States, you know!
Oh, and may I ask which book is peeking out on the second-to-last picture?
The book is “I Capture the Castle”
Hi Morgan, I don’t have any special tricks for braiding. It is something I learn as a child practising on doll’s hair and my friends, I’m really not that good at it but I think you can find tutorials on youtube.
Ahhh, Turkish Delight! *om nom*
Also, what snuggly-looking socks.
Thank you, they’re stockings actually but they’re too big for me and tend to bunch at the ankles.
Teeny tiny gingerbread mens; do want x3 kuhu
I will *try* and save some for you, but no promises, they’re delicious.
I’m in love with your blog ♥
Thanks for bringing a bit of calm sweetness into my life.

She is an amigurumi, made by a crafter in Japan. I’m very fond of her and her sister, Fleur.

Maybe a picnic should be our next outing.
